Rangers Take Lead in Sixth
The Texas Rangers overcame a deficit to defeat the Atlanta Braves 7-6 on Saturday at Truist Park. The turning point arrived in the sixth inning when Jake Nimmo delivered a two-run single to center field. Nimmo’s hit allowed Cameron Maybin (Langford) and Pete Crow-Armstrong (Pederson) to score, pushing the Rangers ahead 7-5.
Before Nimmo’s go-ahead hit, the game had been tightly contested. The Rangers tied the score at 5-5 earlier in the sixth inning when Evan Carter homered to right field, driving in Corey Julks (Duran). That blast leveled the series of runs, but Atlanta would quickly regain the lead in the bottom of the frame.
Michael Harris II doubled to left, scoring Austin Riley (Dubón) to make it 7-6 in favor of the home team.
Early Offensive Surge
The game began with high scoring in the early innings. The Rangers struck first in the top of the first when Andrew Benintendi (Pederson) homered to right field, a 419-foot shot that gave Texas a 1-0 advantage.
Atlanta responded immediately in the bottom of the second. Kyle Wright (White) launched a 406-foot home run to left, and Adolis García (Dubón) scored to make it 1-2. The Braves extended their lead later in the inning.
Austin Riley (Baldwin) singled to center, scoring Riley (Riley), and then Matt Olson (Albies) hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Jarred Kelenic (Jarvis), making the score 1-4.
