Angels Stave Off Defeat

The Los Angeles Angels managed to escape a deep hole on Friday night, mounting a dramatic comeback to defeat the Texas Rangers 7-6 at Globe Life Field. After trailing by five runs, the visitors rallied with a four-run seventh inning and survived a tense ninth to secure the win.

Seventh-Inning Surge

Texas had built a commanding 6-1 lead, but the momentum shifted in the bottom of the seventh. Meckler opened the threat with a single to right field, driving in Guzman. The inning continued to breathe with life as Schanuel followed with a hit to center, scoring Meckler and Neto. Soler then singled to center, bringing Trout home. The rally concluded when Adell singled to left, scoring Schanuel to tie the game at 6-6.

Late Hits Seal Outcome

The game remained tied until the top of the ninth inning. Langford delivered the go-ahead hit with a single to left field, scoring Osuna to give Texas a 7-6 lead. However, the Angels refused to fold. They managed to tie the game again, setting up a dramatic finish. In the bottom of the ninth, the Angels scored the winning run, completing the comeback.

Pitching and Records

Nathan Eovaldi started for Texas, pitching six innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out ten. He received support from the bullpen, with Jacob Latz pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings and Cole Winn earning the win with a perfect 1/3 inning. Kirby Yates took the loss for Los Angeles, pitching 0 1/3 innings and allowing one earned run.

Reid Detmers started for the Angels, throwing four innings with five earned runs allowed on seven hits and six strikeouts. Chase Silseth, Brent Suter, Ryan Zeferjahn, and Sam Bachman pitched scoreless relief. Kirby Yates closed the game but took the loss, dropping his record to 0-4.

The victory improved the Los Angeles Angels' record to 37-57. The Texas Rangers fell to 47-46. The game drew 29,646 fans to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
