Angels' early lead evaporates
The Los Angeles Angels found themselves in an unfamiliar position on Wednesday night, trailing at home after a solid start from Jose Soriano. The Angels took a 2-1 lead in the first inning when Soler doubled to left, driving in Schanuel, before Lowe singled to center to score Soler. However, the Rangers responded immediately in the second inning. Lopez singled to left, allowing Carter and Osuna to score, tying the game at 2-2 with Lopez advancing to second base.
Soriano (6.0 IP, 2 ER) kept the Angels in the contest through six innings, but the Rangers broke through in the seventh. Meckler singled to left to score Peraza, giving Texas a 3-2 advantage. The Angels tied it again in the same frame when Foscue homered to left (387 feet), making the score 3-3.
Rangers pull away in eighth
The game changed dramatically in the eighth inning. Duran singled to left, scoring Smith and putting Burger on third. Foscue then singled to left, driving in Burger to tie the score at 4-4. But the Rangers did not stay down. Osuna homered to right (364 feet), a three-run shot that scored Duran and Foscue, putting Texas up 7-4. The Rangers added one more run later in the inning to make it 8-3.
