A Power Outing in Arlington
The Seattle Mariners faced overwhelming offensive pressure at Globe Life Field on Monday, ultimately succumbing to a barrage of home runs that secured a 7-3 victory for the Texas Rangers. Despite early momentum from their own bats, Seattle’s pitchers could not contain the Rangers’ power surge, which featured five long balls across the game.
The Mariners struck first in the top of the first inning when Joc Pederson launched a 418-foot homer to center field, giving Seattle a 1-0 lead. However, the Rangers responded immediately in the bottom of the second with their own power display. Alex Rodriguez homered to right field (347 feet), driving in two runs and putting Texas ahead 3-1.
The inning continued to be productive for the home team as Duran followed with a 436-foot shot to left-center, extending the lead to 5-2.
Pitching Struggles Define the Loss
Seattle’s starting pitcher George Kirby took the loss after a difficult outing. Kirby faced 12 batters in his four innings of work, surrendering seven hits and seven earned runs while striking out three. The Rangers capitalized on every opportunity, adding another run in the third inning when Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly to left, bringing Emerson home to make it 6-2.
The Rangers’ lead was further solidified in the bottom of the third when Burger homered to left-center (403 feet), scoring Carter and pushing the margin to 7-2. Texas relief pitcher Kumar Rocker earned the win, pitching 6.2 innings and allowing only two earned runs while striking out seven batters.
His performance contrasted sharply with the Mariners’ bullpen, which managed to keep the score from growing further in the later innings.
