Rangers Rally but Astros Hold On
The Texas Rangers managed to erase a deficit and take a brief lead in the fourth inning, but a costly wild pitch sequence and a sixth-inning home run ultimately sealed a 5-4 loss to the Houston Astros at Daikin Park on Saturday.
Houston, playing as the home team, relied on strong relief pitching to close out the game, while the Rangers’ starting effort was hampered by early struggles. The final attendance was recorded at 38,461.
Scoring Shifts in the Fourth
The Rangers’ offense found its rhythm after trailing 1-0 in the second inning. They answered when Adolis García homered to left field in the third to tie the score at 1-1. Shortly after, Corey Seager singled to left, driving in two runs to give Texas a 3-1 advantage.
However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Astros loaded the bases and began chipping away at the lead. A sacrifice bunt by Jose Altuve scored one run, followed by an infield single by Yordan Alvarez that brought another home to tie the game at 3-3.
The pivotal moment came when Alvarez scored on a wild pitch by Rangers reliever Cole Winn. Although the call was challenged by Texas, the umpires upheld the decision, giving Houston a 5-4 lead. The Rangers threatened to tie it later in the inning when Wyatt Langford homered to right field, but the Astros’ bullpen held firm.
