Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes without an interception as Dallas defeated Washington 37-20 at AT&T Stadium, bringing the Cowboys’ record to 1-1 after their 28-20 loss to the New York Giants. The team works out of The Star in Frisco.
Prescott completed 26 passes for 279 yards. His 249th career touchdown pass came on a 24-yard fourth-quarter completion to CeeDee Lamb, moving him beyond Tony Romo’s franchise mark of 248, according to The Associated Press. Lamb had earlier opened the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown and finished with eight receptions for 153 yards and two scores. He gave Prescott the record football, a moment Prescott described by saying, “That made me emotional,” according to the AP. Lamb has 37 touchdown catches from Prescott, the most for any Prescott teammate.
Jake Ferguson caught Dallas’ other two touchdown passes, covering 10 and 12 yards. Jaishawn Barham forced a fumble on a screen pass early in the third quarter, Dee Winters recovered inside Washington’s 20-yard line, and Ferguson scored two plays later. Brandon Aubrey added field goals of 25, 44 and 60 yards, plus all four extra points. Dallas converted seven of 11 third downs, while Washington held the ball for 31:29 and gained 389 yards to Dallas’ 332, including 182 rushing yards.
Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels left after the first half with a dislocated left elbow. Coach Dan Quinn said imaging showed no fracture, and Marcus Mariota finished at quarterback. Dallas next faces Baltimore in Brazil on Sunday, Sept. 27, at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. Central, with Dallas designated as the home team.
