A reported shooting in Johnson County led deputies to a location on County Road 1230 at about 8:30 a.m. Monday, but officials said the report was false. Dallas is about 37 miles south of Aubrey.
Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the people at the location safe and did not find evidence that a shooting had taken place. No shooting was reported as having occurred after deputies arrived.
Officials said the incident fit the pattern of a swatting call. In such incidents, someone makes a false report that is intended to bring a substantial law enforcement response to an unsuspecting location. WFAA reported the officials’ statement.
