Jonathan Mark Fleming, 41, of Denton, was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for his role in three armed bank robberies. The sentencing occurred after Fleming entered a guilty plea to bank robbery charges on June 29. U.S. District Judge Richard Schell presided over the sentencing proceedings.
Court documents indicate that the crimes took place at various banks in Denton between November 2022 and February 2023. During these incidents, Fleming allegedly brandished a firearm while wearing a black outfit that included a ski mask, goggles, and gloves to conceal his identity. He utilized different vehicles for the offenses, driving a red Dodge Challenger for the first two robberies and a Dodge Ram TRX truck for the third.
Investigators traced the Dodge Ram TRX back to a dealership, where records showed Fleming had purchased the vehicle with cash and traded in the red Challenger. Following his identification as a suspect, law enforcement obtained a search warrant for his apartment on February 23. As the sole resident, Fleming was arrested during the execution of the warrant.
A search of the apartment revealed evidence linking him to the crimes. Officers recovered black and gray clothing consistent with what was worn during the robberies, along with a black duffel bag and a gun belt with a holster. Authorities also seized a significant amount of cash still wrapped in bank currency bands, multiple firearms, two police radio scanners, and two deposit receipts showing transfers of $19,000 to $40,000 into various bank accounts.
The seized weapons included a black Smith and Wesson M&P handgun in a holster, which investigators believe was used in the November 10, 2022, robbery; a new Glock handgun accompanied by its receipt; and two AR-15 style rifles. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas, the total amount stolen from the banks was approximately $450,000.
