Hillwood held a groundbreaking ceremony on November 13 for Landmark, a new master-planned community located in Denton. The project is situated near Pilot Knob, a 900-foot-high hill that the Texas State Historical Association identifies as the former highest point in North Texas. Denton is about 11 miles southwest of Aubrey.
The development will span 3,200 acres and is designed to accommodate a mix of residential and commercial uses. Upon completion, the community will contain 6,000 single-family homes and 3,000 multifamily units. The plan also allocates 900 acres for commercial purposes and 1,100 acres for parks and open space. Residents will have access to 35 miles of hike and bike trails.
The community will feature residences built by nine different construction companies. Amenities will include on-site schools, retail areas, and park space. Construction has already begun on an H-E-B grocery store, which will be the first of its kind in Denton. Hillwood officials stated that model homes are scheduled to open in the spring of 2026.
Ross Perot Jr., the founder of Hillwood, expressed enthusiasm for the project during the ceremony. He described the development as a product the company would be proud of and stated his belief that it would become the best community in the region.
