SHERMAN, Texas - Jonathan Mark Fleming, 41, of Denton, was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for committing three armed bank robberies in the Denton County area. U.S. District Judge Richard Schell handed down the sentence on June 29, 2026, following Fleming's guilty plea to bank robbery charges.
According to court documents, the crimes occurred between November 2022 and February 2023. During each incident, Fleming wore all-black clothing, black gloves, black ski goggles, and a black mask while brandishing a firearm. He initially arrived at the first two banks in a red Dodge Challenger. For the third robbery, he used a Dodge Ram TRX truck.
Investigators tracked the Dodge Ram TRX to its original dealership, where records showed Fleming had purchased it with a large cash payment and traded in the red Dodge Challenger. This lead led to a search warrant for Fleming’s apartment on February 23, 2023. Fleming was arrested as the sole occupant.
Police found items matching video surveillance from the robberies, including a black and gray duffel bag, black clothing, a face covering, a gun belt with holster, and black ski goggles. Authorities also discovered a large sum of U.S. currency still wrapped in bank bands, multiple firearms, two police radio scanners, and receipts showing large deposits ranging from $19,000 to $40,000 into various bank accounts. The firearms included a black M&P Smith and Wesson handgun believed to be used in the November 10, 2022, robbery, a newly purchased Glock handgun, and two AR-style rifles.
