Dallas is about 37 miles south of Aubrey. On Nov. 3, Lyft will offer North Texas voters 50% off qualifying rides, bike trips and scooter trips to polling locations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The savings are limited to $10. Riders can apply the code VOTE26 between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. that day while traveling to a polling place.
Dallas County polling locations are expected to be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., according to the county website. The offer comes through Lyft Up Voting Access, a nonpartisan program. Lyft representative Sabiha Nur said the company has provided free or discounted transportation for presidential, midterm and some runoff elections in the past.
Nur said nearly 4 million people have used Lyft to get to polling places, transport ballots, or participate in voter registration and other related events. During the current election cycle, Lyft is partnering with the League of Women Voters, the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans and Students Learn Students Vote Coalition.
The company said those efforts are aimed at helping older voters, people with disabilities, students, veterans and lower-income communities facing transportation barriers.
