Trent Brown’s 2026 playtime incentives with Houston now total up to $2.5 million, an increase from the previous $1.5 million maximum. Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti detailed the revised terms Sept. 16 in a post on X.
The agreement offers Brown a $500,000 bonus at each of five playing-time marks: 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70%. Over The Cap’s Troy Chapman previously reported that the changes did not alter Brown’s salary-cap charge or his initial cash flow. The new incentives were added to the existing arrangement. Houston re-signed Brown in the 2026 offseason on a one-year, $5.5 million contract.
Brown played seven regular-season games and one playoff game for the Texans in 2025, with injuries limiting him at the start and finish of the season. He stayed with Houston during its offseason program and opened Week 1 as the starting right tackle.
The Texans had signed Braden Smith to a two-year, $20 million deal, but Smith went on injured reserve after injuries prevented him from taking the starting role. Brown has not started every regular-season game in a season since 2022, when he played for New England. He has started 104 of 111 career games, including stops with the 49ers, Bengals and Raiders.
