Dalton Schultz could see more work in Houston's passing game if wide receiver Nico Collins cannot play against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. Collins hurt his hamstring during Wednesday's practice, according to a report from SI.com citing ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Texans do not believe the injury is serious, but his status for the game remains uncertain.
Houston could be cautious because Collins previously sustained a Grade 2 hamstring strain in 2024 that led to injured reserve. His absence would alter the Texans' receiving options and could send additional targets to Schultz.
Schultz led Houston in receptions in 2025, with 82 catches for 777 yards. His usage also increased during a Week 7 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks last season, when Collins exited the game. Schultz received 10 passes thrown his way and ended the contest with nine receptions totaling 98 yards.
The report did not include a subsequent update on whether Collins will play against Cincinnati.
