Denison, Texas — One year following devastating floods in the Texas Hill Country that resulted in over 130 fatalities, the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country has reported distributing approximately $82 million in recovery assistance to affected individuals and families. Founded in 1982 and based in Kerrville, the nonprofit initiated its relief fund on July 4, 2025, the same day the Guadalupe River overflowed.
With total donations surpassing $150 million, this initiative stands as one of the largest privately led disaster-recovery efforts in Texas history. CEO Austin Dickson, who personally experienced loss due to the flooding, noted that the anniversary brings a mix of sorrow and hope. The foundation quickly allocated $15 million within 45 days to over 50 local nonprofits focused on providing financial aid and crisis support.
