The Chicago White Sox overcame a sluggish start to dismantle the Texas Rangers 10-3 on Tuesday night at Globe Life Field. The victory was anchored by a massive offensive outburst in the ninth inning, where Chicago scored five runs to turn a tight contest into a blowout.
Benintendi provided the centerpiece of the rally with a three-run double, helping the White Sox secure their 53rd win of the season.
Scoring Breakdown
Chicago took an early lead when Pederson homered to right center in the first inning. The Rangers responded in the second, with Duran scoring on a Carter single to tie the game at 2-2 after Antonacci singled in Peters in the third.
The score remained deadlocked until the fifth inning, when Benintendi doubled to right field, driving in Antonacci, Vargas, and Murakami to give Chicago a 5-2 advantage. The Rangers cut the deficit to one run in the seventh when Burger homered to left center.
The game changed dramatically in the ninth. Vargas doubled to left, followed by Acuña singling to right to load the bases. Grichuk then tripled to left, scoring Acuña, before B. Montgomery doubled to left to bring Grichuk home.
The White Sox added two more runs later in the frame, with Acuña singling to score Murakami and Vargas, and Grichuk scoring on the same play, before Montgomery’s double completed the scoring. The final tally of 10-3 reflected the White Sox dominance in the late innings.
