Business owners in Aubrey who are trying to figure out where the money for a launch or an expansion might come from can get free advice Monday evening from the city's economic development arm.

The Aubrey Municipal Development District is hosting a Capital Readiness Roundtable, billed as "Funding for Every Stage of Business," from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at the Aubrey Community Center, 226 Countryside Drive.

The MDD describes it as an expert-led session for entrepreneurs at any stage. Financial experts are to explain the kinds of capital a business can tap, typical obstacles to raising it and how to match a funding path to where a business is now. Each attendee leaves with a checklist pointing to financing tools.

The event is free, but the MDD asks people to register, either through its website or by calling 940-440-9343, ext. 110.

Accelerator returns in January

The roundtable comes as the district takes applications for the Aubrey Local Business Accelerator, a six-week program for people with a business idea or a young company inside the city limits or the extraterritorial jurisdiction. Businesses that belong to the Aubrey 380 Area Chamber of Commerce can also apply.

Sessions run Mondays from 6 to 8 p.m., Jan. 11 through Feb. 15, 2027, at the community center's north entrance. Each week covers one part of a business model canvas:

  • Getting ready for business ownership
  • Customer discovery, marketing and AI
  • Financial management and capital readiness
  • Scaling operations, including automation and hiring
  • Launching a local business in Aubrey

The final week is graduation, with each participant giving a five-minute presentation of their business model. The MDD says participants will also be connected with city leaders, local partners and available incentives.

Applications are due Dec. 11.

Its stated mission includes diversifying the city's economic base and helping existing businesses stay and grow in Aubrey.
