A new primary care practice opened Oct. 5 on U.S. 380 in the Savannah area, at an Aubrey address, offering walk-in visits, self-pay pricing and an optional monthly membership.

Amara Health Primary Care & Wellness is at 27045 E. University Drive, Suite 2D. It was founded by Dr. Krishna Ramesh, an internal medicine physician who is the practice's CEO, and Dr. Rangish Yuvaraj, also trained in internal medicine, who serves as medical director. Both are licensed in Texas and registered at the address, according to the federal NPI provider registry.

What it offers

The practice sees adult patients for annual physicals, preventive wellness visits, sick visits, chronic disease management, medication management, lab testing and telehealth appointments, according to Ramesh. It is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and accepts walk-ins, according to the practice's flyer. New patients can book a free 15-minute introduction with one of the doctors, the flyer says.

Membership, self-pay and insurance

Memberships are optional and start at $129 a month, Ramesh said. Depending on the plan, they can include longer appointments, priority scheduling, more direct contact with the physicians and preventive health planning. The practice's flyer notes that a membership is not health insurance and does not replace it for hospital care, specialists, prescriptions, labs, imaging or emergencies.

For patients paying on their own, sick and walk-in visits start at $99, Ramesh said.

The practice is still completing contracts with insurance companies. Aetna has approved both physicians, Ramesh said, and the practice expects to add other major plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and UnitedHealthcare, during the fall, subject to final contracting. Patients should confirm their coverage with the office before a visit.

Why here

"We chose Aubrey because it's a wonderful, rapidly growing community, and we saw an opportunity to build something meaningful here," Ramesh said in an email. "We wanted to create a practice where patients feel like people, not just appointment slots."

Yuvaraj said the doctors want the practice to be "a place where patients feel comfortable, heard, and genuinely cared for," with an emphasis on preventive medicine and long-term relationships.

The practice can be reached at 469-461-6173.
